Illustrated Landscapes
The way we construct our vision of natural landscape – as well as the variety of implications inherent in its representation – are one of the main concerns that I intend to address in Paisajes ilustrados. This project stems from a close relationship I sustain with the natural landscape, as well as an interest to establish questions regarding the way intangible elements in our culture pervade representations of landscape throughout history, more specifically those images that illustrate many travel chronicles at the beginning of the XIX Century. These photographs seek to address issues regarding the subjectivity and idealism that have historically accompanied the representation of landscape, as well as to raise new questions on the objectivity of the landscape represented in this particular moment of history.
