Daniel Otero Torres
Born in 1985 in Bogotá, Colombia
Lives and works in Paris, France
Daniel Otero Torres work defines a pursuit of confrontation through the objectified re-configuration of neocolonialist forms and figures, which punctuate an otherwise empty space. By placing the spectator under the watchful gaze of his subjects, he affects a mutual process of surveillance, between the work and the viewer.
Influenced by the phenomena of surveillance paranoia, Daniel Otero illustrates the boundaries between different worlds and classes. Underlying these representations we often encounter undercurrents questioning the significance of a common history and the complex cultural heritage established with others.
