Idaid Rodriguez

Born in 1975 in Mexico.
Lives and works in Mexico D.F.

Mr. Rodriguez is working on a community based project, restoring and revising the history of a Mexico City neighborhood which has lost its identity when the local factory closed down. In collaboration with the residents of the area, he has created an archive of the local history, both pictorially and through text and image, which resulted in an exhibition called La Fama.This kind of community based effort, with a strong dedication to a social group and location, was well developed. He clearly is articulate and dedicated to this approach in his work, and reminded me of other excellent artists such as Rick Lowe of Project Rowe Houses in Houston , and Tim Rollins and Kids of Survival in the Bronx , NY. It might be informative for Mr. Romero to travel to some of these other projects to see how these artists have approached similar revisionist histories or reclamation of identity projects.
