SP-Arte, São Pauloʼs International Art Fair, continues to distinguish itself as Latin Americaʼs leading art fair, presenting the worldʼs foremost galleries for its 11th edition, April 9-12, 2014 with a preview for VIP guests on April 8. Held in the emblematic Cicillo Matarazzo Pavilion, SP-Arte has become one of the most important moments of the year in the São Paulo calendar.
In 2015, SP-Arte will be hosting a new section and an improved layout for an enhanced visitor experience. The new section will be curated by Jacopo Visconti Crivelli and will occupy the third floor of the Bienal Pavilion focusing on large scale and site-specific installations. The SP-Arteʼs main section, the Galleries Section, presents the most important names in modern and contemporary art. The Solo Program will also return to SP-Arte with co-curators María Inés Rodríguez and Rodrigo Moura organizing the selection of galleries. This section will be focused on solo-artists exhibitions, creating an active dialogue between the participating artists and galleries. The Showcase Program, in its third year, includes a solid presentation of Brazilian and international galleries with experimental and emerging works, each one exhibiting up to three artists. In addition to the installations and Galleries Section, SP-Arte also boasts an editorial cluster featuring artistʼs book publishers. After launching its unprecedented content driven catalogue for SP-Arte/2014, the 2015 catalogue will continue the discussion on key art topics. This year, the catalogue will not only include details on all of SP-Arteʼs exhibitors, but will also include articles on the forces that drive the global art market. SP-Arteʼs programming of discussions and interviews are an essential component of the fair experience. SP-Arte has partnered up with Arte! Brasileiros for its program of talks; including interdisciplinary interviews and debates with artists, curators, art historians and philosophers. The talks will be held in the auditorium of the Museu de Arte Moderno (MAM SP). São Paulo is a cultural hub, home to Brazilʼs most prestigious museums, foundations, and galleries. During the Fair, São Pauloʼs institutions will also host events around the city to coincide with SP-Arte Week. Some events include exhibitions of world renowned artists, like Marina Abromovic at Sesc Pompeia; José Resende, Nelson Fenix, and Sean Scully at Pinacoteca de Estado de São Paulo; and the artist collective Under the Same Sun, curated by Pablo Leon de la Barra at Museu de Arte Moderna (MAM SP). SP-Arte is a platform within the international art scene, bringing together galleries, institutions and art professionals for a unique experience in São Paulo.
