Jorge Méndez Blake

Born in 1974, in Guadalajara, Mexico
Lives and works in Guadalajara, Mexico

The work of Méndez Blake takes references from diverse cultural environments with the attempt to create previously non-existing connections between literature and architecture. He creates non-linear systems of ideas that begin with literature classics, architectural history or diverse fiction related themes. The constant reviews of well known authors, different architectural works or specific cultural situations, attempt to create new interpretations of the sociocultural landscape, and with them, a wide spectrum of possible lectures that connect an author, text or building with new contexts. The ideas behind the way we construct or order our society’s cultural heritage are reconsidered and examined under new circumstances, as space, geography, constructed landscape or language.
