Nara Roesler Gallery

Founded in 1989 in São Paulo, Brazil
Directors:  Nara Roesler, Daniel Roesler and Alexandre Roesler

Founded in Sao Paulo in 1989, Galeria Nara Roesler is one of the most established contemporary art galleries in Brazil. The gallery stands out as a singular environment in which the dialogue between Brazil and Latin America´s more historical artists and a generation of more contemporary artists is constantly taking place. This dialogue is an important contribution to the national and international art scene.

With over 500 square meters of exhibition space, year after year, the gallery´s exhibition program has shown artist that were coming of age in the 1960’s such as Helio Oiticica, Abraham Palatnik, Antonio Dias, Paulo Bruscky and Antonio Manuel and a group of artists which have been steadily gaining recognition among their peers such as Carlito Carvalhosa, Cao Guimarães, Lucia Koch, Marcos Chaves and Melanie Smith.

Since 2004 Galeria Nara Roesler has been running the Roesler Hotel project, designed to host art projects from international artists and to foster collaboration with galleries worldwide. The gallery’s international presence has a special focus on Latin America and Daniel Roesler, one of its directors has been serving as a member of the admissions committee of zonamaco, the Mexican contemporary art fair, since 2005. In order to bridge the gap to Europe and North America, Galeria Nara Roesler has been participating at such important fairs as Art Basel (in 2007 the gallery exhibited Cosmococa – programa in progress CC4/Nocagions by Helio Oiticica and Neville D’Almeida at Art Unlimited, a project that was quoted by Sam Keller at the Art Newspaper as one of the top 10 Art Unlimited projects until then), Armory and Art Basel Miami Beach.

In this time when Brazil rises as one of the major economies in the world and its art market thrives Galeria Nara Roesler stands ready for the task of presenting its artists alongside such high quality peers.
