Francisca Sanchez

Lives and works in Santiago, Chile
Francisca Sánchez was born in Santiago in 1975. She studied Anthropology and has a Master Degree in Visual Arts from the University of Chile. In 2004 she participated in the residence De Ateliers in Amsterdam and two years later joined the artistic research program La Seine L’ Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts in Paris . During her time living abroad she earned a fellow by the entities in which she participated allowing her to focus exclusively on experimentation and systematic work in the workshop. This will mark her artistic work proposing the practice of sculpture as a methodology to understand

the things by remaking the world. In 2009 she returns to Chile, and found with Maria Berrios and Ignacio Gumucio the editorial collective vaticanochico , which postulates curiosity as the engine of knowledge and self-learning.
She currently lives and works in Santiago , sharing her time between research and teaching at the School of Art at the University Diego Portales.
