María Gabler

Born in 1989 in Santiago de Chile, Chile
Lives and works in Santiago de Chile, Chile

The concepts of experience and object are the starting point of my work. I am fascinated by the way that we relate and interact with the everyday things around us. That is the reason why, in most cases, I like to create tailored installations that are thought and made for the place where they are located. Pieces where the viewer has an active role in the experience, being it by walking around it, or by moving and interacting in a particular way. My artistic production is defined and powered by a permanent search of those interventions that can disrupt our everyday experiences “in” and “about” the spaces we inhabit.
In a nutshell, my work aims to become more conscious about the things that surround us, and disrupt the logical perception about the objects and the space where they are placed, and at the same time offer a reflection about the experience and contingency.
