Helena Chávez Mac Gregor

Born in 1979 in Mexico City, Mexico.
Lives and works in Mexico City, Mexico.

She has a PhD in Philosophy from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, UNAM, (National Autonomous University of Mexico) with a research on the relationship between Aesthetics and Politics. She did a MA at the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona (Autonomous University of Barcelona) on Aesthetics and Contemporary Art Theory.

She has participated in conferences and residencies in México, United Kingdom, Turkey, Argentina, Spain, South Africa and Lebanon.

Among her recent publication are: “A props of Cercanias, A Reading on Representation” (11 to 21 The Political Constitution of the Present, Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo, Seville, March-June 2011, Issue 1) and “The Revolution Will Not be Televised”, Melanie Smith: Red Square, Impossible Pink, (Mexican Pavilion of the 54 Venice Biennale, INBA- TURNER, Madrid, May, 2011.) She is a Red of Conpectualismos del Sur member since 2008. Currently she is the Academic Curator of the MUAC, University Museum of Contemporary Art in Mexico City where she have develop the project Extended Campus a Critical Theory research program.
